The Forgotten Room

When Tim’s parents died his world fell into a black hole. He didn't know what to make of his life with a new reality. He felt lost, depressed and discouraged but suddenly there was light at the end of the tunnel. His life turned around for the better. He got a new job, money began to not be a problem, and he felt ambitious. His biggest decision yet was to purchase a house. From generations of renting apartments, he broke that generational spiral, and no one saw it coming.

With months of finding the perfect home to begin a family, move in day arrived ever so quickly. The home was rustic but had the potential to surpass its peers. As boxes were moved in, the walls became covered from head to toe. Tim felt a sigh of relief knowing his hard work paid off. As he took a final tour of the home admiring his accomplishment, he discovered a strange door that was not there before he moved in. He stood confused, not knowing if he should proceed with his curiosity or not be phased by what could be behind the door.

That nonchalant act stood no chance to the size of Tim’s curiosity. He took one look at the door, swallowed his pride and turned the knob. As it creeped open, peculiar spiraled stairs appeared below. He got a sudden unsettling feeling within his body. The hair on his arm stood straight which increased his fear. Nothing could have prepared him for what he would encounter. He took a step back and inhaled before he stepped down the stairs. What should have been a quick walk down the stairs took him five minutes. As he took a few more steps, the door slammed shut. Tim panicked and regretted his decision to open the door.
