Ode to Black Girls

Hair that kinks like whimsical fleece
How fair is your sun-kissed skin,
Honey drips from your cushioned lips
And a world of beauty within.

Eyes that swirl like chocolate pearls
Rhythm, the arm of your ears,
Ancient broad nose draped in the finest bronze gold
Casting an enchanting spell.

Feet calloused and spirit untarnished
Badged with blistered hands,
Through disease, starvation, battery, exploitation
Centuries later you stand.
